Once upon a time,

There was a brave young knight and a bright young princess. They met one fine Halifax day that turned into five Haligonian nights. Filled with laughter and stories of childhood crushes. Art galleries too warm for human habitation. Films with strangers in strange lands. Little sisters and roomates.

They were together over a long winter. It was fevered cabin nights. Warm beds on cold mornings. Crisp Saturdays at the market. Walking hand in hand in the bitterest cold until neither could feel their wooden fingers wrapped around the other's hands.

And in the end they knew they'd found what they'd been looking for in each other. Their counterpoints in different clothes. She a wolf in sheep's clothing; he a sheep in wolf's clothing.

Until one spring morning fate ripped them apart. She, cast to a distant foreign land. He, held prisoner in a tiny coastal enclave. So they schemed. And they planned. And their lowe bridged the distance.

  2. So today was such a long long day! I am so tired to make this flowery and romantic but i promise to add a touch of love to this one k! Mwah!

I got into Houston at 12:00pm then I had to RUN to take a train to the smallest terminal ever then got to the gate with 5 mins left! Lana was there waiting for me so that was nice to see a familiar face. We sat next to each other and caught up.

Once we got into Monterrey, we met another girl from South Carolina who was also studying at TEC (Technologico de Monterrey). The three of us went through customs. We had to push a button to see who would get a random check - both me and Lana got a green light, and the other USA chick got RED! so we waited for her. Once we were done, the school reps were waiting for us and there was a group of 20 other exchange kids waiting too. We were the last bus in, so everyone had to wait for us till the bus could take us to the Campus.

The city is okay, typical Mexican - nice concrete homes mixed with metal sheet sheds, wild dogs foaming at the mouth, and lots and lots of fruit vendors. BUT the campus is amazing! it is soo big, high tech and architecturally so beautiful! its really really safe in the area and everyone is soo nice.

So as soon as we got in, they registered us and they asked us if we had housing. We said no, and they totally gave us 4 options and took me and Lana to see each of them. Wasn't that so nice! They showed us houses with other students already living in them. They were super cheap but so small and 5 kids would have to share this tiny bathroom and it was dirty etc. Then we saw an apartment, which was soo nice and clean but so expensive. So finally we found this one apartment in a building called the Monarkida Apartenmento (the apartment for Monarchs!) and its only literally 5 min walk from classes - its in the campus district. And it has two beds, A/C (which is soo mandatory here! we are in a hostel right now and there is no A/C and we are trying to sleep in 40 degree Celsius!) TV, and Internet. The apartments are all occupied by students so that is good. We are meeting the lady tomorrow to sign the lease and set up - we have to buy bed sheets and pillows and kitchen stuff - so we will probably do that tomorrow if we can - otherwise spend another night in the hostel.

Then after 3 hrs of looking for an apartment, we checked into the hostel at 7:15pm and had to be at dinner at 8:00pm to meet all the students - so at this point I haven't eaten anything all day except for one Gatorade and a granola bar, and had only 2 hrs of sleep on the flight. So i was super grumpy and was in no mood to meet anyone at the dinner. But we still went.. and it was insane busy! there are approx 200 exchange students - most were undergrad students aged 20-21 - and we were all fighting to get food at the buffet table. it was so bad, and i was soo tired. we had to wait in line for 1.5 hrs. so me and Lana ate quickly and just left. We had soft tacos ( make them yourself with BBQ beef, deep fried beans, spicy salsa, and this green sauce and cheese - soo good!!) We didn't talk to anyone or make nay friends... oh well. this whole week is orientation stuff so we will meet people once we get some sleep tonight!! :) its almost 11:00pm here (its an hour ahead of Edmonton) and hopefully i will be in bed soon.

We have orientation tomorrow at 9:00am, but we have to pack all our stuff and take it to the school. hopefully we can move into the apartment tomorrow - there is AC so we might sleep better :)

K i love you and will call tomorrow k!

    Luv you so much!!
